UNEXPECTED PEDRO 3 – MORE ART ON THE STREETS OF SAN PEDRO!

The San Pedro Waterfront Arts District is working to bring public art to the downtown area and the whole community.  The latest completed project is a series of six more professional artist painted DOT (Department of Transportation) utility boxes on Harbor Blvd.   Each box is unique and responds to the selected theme Unexpected Pedro and there are now 17 painted DOT boxes throughout downtown San Pedro. The Arts District thanks the Port of Los Angeles for the grant funding to make this activity possible and the Council Office of Joe Busciano for helping with the DOT approvals.

This is the third set of DOT box murals following the theme Unexpected Pedro.  The Arts District’s Design Advisory Panel is comprised of local artists, gallerists and curators.  The DAP had their work cut out for them evaluating 26 artists’ entries, and narrowing it to the selected six:

Garen Novruzyen
Nuria Ortiz
Erick Sanchez
Luis Sanchez
Adrienne Wade
Miki Yokoyama

Thanks to Clean San Pedro for prepping the boxes for painting and applying the anti-graffiti coating!
