Michael Stearn’s Studio 347 will host the August 29th opening reception for New Constructions and Assemblies, a conversation on mortality that realizes the quintessential link between procreation and death by James Preston Allen.
These new works combine elements of assemblage, dimensional construction and painting. As with Allen’s earlier body of work, this collection has clear historical references to many influences— from Dada to Surrealism, found object assemblage and abstract expressionism—reminding the viewer that art exists within a historical context. Opening reception Saturday, Aug. 29, 4-7PM. The exhibition runs through Nov. 2.
At Michael Stearns Studio 347, 347 W. 7th St., San Pedro. Hours: Fri. & Sat. 12-6PM, open for First Thursday Artwalks. For more information call 562-400-0544 or click here.
