San Pedro Today reports that San Pedro’s Waterfront Arts District, supported by a Port of Los Angeles grant, is installing artist-designed crosswalks at 6th & Harbor, beginning with “Furusato” by Lua Kobayashi —a vibrant bluefin tuna motif honoring Terminal Island’s Japanese American fishing heritage through traditional Gyotaku-inspired imagery, sanpedrotoday.com. These creative crosswalks aim to enhance pedestrian safety and community identity by blending beauty, visibility, and local history in public infrastructure.
